The Strategy Director for Global Indirect Procurement leads the development and execution of category strategies that maximise value, drive innovation, and enable business growth across Global Indirect Procurement spend areas. This role acts as a strategic partner to senior stakeholders, translating business priorities into data-driven procurement strategies that enhance effectiveness, efficiency, and competitive advantage.
A core focus of the role is the creation of compelling, data-led narratives and presentations that inform decision-making at executive level. Leveraging advanced analytics, market intelligence, and performance metrics, the Strategy Director provides clear, actionable insights on spend optimisation, supplier performance, and return on investment across Global Indirect Procurement initiatives. The role is responsible for establishing robust performance management frameworks, including KPIs, benchmarking, and continuous improvement mechanisms to ensure suppliers consistently deliver against expectations.
In parallel, the Strategy Director proactively identifies, assesses, and mitigates commercial, operational, and reputational risks within the supply base and across complex marketing and tech ecosystems. Bringing an external lens, the role continuously scans the market for emerging trends, innovations, and new commercial levers—such as evolving agency models, martech advancements, and digital transformation opportunities—to unlock additional value and support future-ready capabilities. The Strategy Director champions innovation by connecting internal stakeholders with leading-edge partners and solutions.
Success in this role requires a blend of strategic thinking, strong storytelling through data, deep category expertise in Global Indirect Procurement, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders while driving measurable business outcomes.
This role will oversee the project portfolio creation and maintenance of activities for their respective area of support and reports directly into the VP – Head of Global Indirect Procurement.
In this role you will…
- Develop and execute forward-looking category strategies across Global Indirect Procurement, aligned to business growth and transformation priorities.
- Build compelling, data-led presentations and executive narratives that translate complex spend, performance, and market insights into clear actions.
- Partner with senior Marketing, Digital, and Technology stakeholders to shape investment decisions and maximise ROI across campaigns, platforms, and services.
- Establish and lead robust supplier performance management frameworks, including KPIs, scorecards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial, operational, and reputational risks across a diverse and evolving supplier ecosystem.
- Leverage internal and external data sources to generate actionable insights on spend optimisation, demand management, and value creation opportunities.
- Bring external market intelligence on agency models, martech, digital innovation, and emerging technologies to inform strategy and unlock new levers.
- Challenge the status quo by introducing innovative sourcing approaches, commercial models, and partnership structures.
- Drive cross-functional alignment to ensure procurement strategies are embedded into Global Indirect Procurement planning cycles.
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives and complex negotiations to deliver measurable cost efficiencies and business value.
- Champion best practices in governance, compliance, and procurement excellence across Global Indirect Procurement categories.
- Influence senior stakeholders through strong storytelling, analytical rigour, and a clear focus on outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner effectively across all areas of Global Procurement, especially focusing on Global Marketing Procurement to drive activities and priorities in support of the business needs.
- Regularly interact with Haleon leadership, Global Indirect Procurement leads.
- Enable creation of team KPIs in alignment with overall Global Procurement strategy and goals, and drive performance management of the team.
- Lead, prepare and coordinate high quality input into QSC LT and select HET presentations and senior leader engagements.
- Prepare and facilitate GPLT-1 Leadership Team meetings to drive focus on the most impactful and critical activities.
- Lead the alignment of Global Procurement inputs into Marketing & Tech updates, enabling a category-oriented procurement organization to effectively maintain matrix relationships with key stakeholders.
- Lead or support opportunity identification and/or business reviews through activities such as top-down budget/ expense reviews, leading ideation sessions or driving best practice benchmarking.
- Facilitate and support team alignment and drive changes/actions within the team for key central programs.
- Support Global Procurement’s participation in external benchmarking efforts – deliver intelligence on external best practices and enhance team’s relative maturity and capabilities.
- Drive communication and engagement strategy within team in alignment with overall Global Procurement communications strategy and cadence.
- Support mergers, acquisitions and divestment related activities as assigned based on relevance to region/focus area.
- Other projects support/lead as appropriate.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelors - Business, Marketing, Technology, Procurement related field or any Bachelors, combined with relevant experience.
- Preferred: Master’s Degree (Procurement, Finance, Business or equivalent).
- Good to have: Procurement or related certifications (e.g. CPSM, CPIM, PMP).
- 7+ years’ experience working in corporate environment, particularly consulting backgrounds.
- 3+ years’ experience working in procurement or related field.
- Proven experience in Procurement, Category Strategy, or Strategic Sourcing, with deep expertise in Marketing and/or Technology categories.
- High level of fluency in spoken and written English.
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to translate complex data into clear, compelling insights and executive-level storytelling.
- Experience in program management, including change management and executive communication.
- Demonstrated experience in supplier performance management, including KPI design, benchmarking, and continuous improvement frameworks.
- Solid understanding of risk management principles across commercial, operational, and supplier domains.
- Strong knowledge of marketing ecosystem (agencies, media, digital, production) and/or technology landscape (martech, SaaS, platforms, digital transformation).
- Experience leveraging market intelligence and external insights to inform strategy and identify innovation opportunities.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and challenge senior leaders.
- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering cost savings, value creation, and ROI improvement.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to balance long-term vision and short-term delivery.
- Skilled negotiator with experience managing complex, high-value contracts and supplier relationships.
- High level of communication and storytelling capability, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, matrixed environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
