Roles Available in Location: Montrose, Ware, Worthing, Stevenage

Education required: To apply for this placement, you must be currently studying an Undergraduate Degree in Chemical/Process Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical engineering, nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, medical engineering, fine chemicals engineering, oil & gas engineering, pharmaceutical engineering.

Please read the degree requirements for each role carefully before applying.

Other requirements: You will have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree but will not have graduated at the start of your placement. You must be enrolled at a UK or ROI university for the duration of your placement.

If you have already graduated with a bachelor’s degree and are currently studying a postgraduate Masters, you are not eligible for this programme.

Language requirement: Written and spoken fluency in English

Expected Start date: July 2026

Duration: 1 year (approximately)

Salary: £25,400 plus a bonus

Workplace Arrangements: Full time on site required

Role 1 – Chemical Engineering – Montrose

Degree requirements: Chemical Engineering

Overview: The department overview covers day-to-day manufacture of APIs, capital projects, sustainability initiatives or cleaning/process improvements. Manufacturing Science and Technology involves Process Engineering, plant troubleshooting, improvements, HAZOPs, and automation involvement.

Key Placement Learnings

  • Unit operations such as crystallisation, distillation, chemical reactions, drying, filtration.
  • Plant design and automation

  • Commercial manufacture of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients

Role 2 – Chemical Engineering – Ware

Degree requirements: Chemical Engineering

Overview: Support manufacturing of Oral Solid Dose products; monitor performance across Oral Solid Dose, Respiratory and Micronising value streams; lifecycle management and process improvements.

Degree Requirements: Chemical or Biochemical Engineering

Overview: Small Molecule Process Science focuses on biotechnology processes, scale-up from discovery to large-scale fermentation, including fermentation, purification, and enzymes used in synthesis.

Role 4 – Process Engineering and Analytics – Ware R&D

Degree requirements: Currently studying an MEng in chemical engineering, nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, medical engineering, fine chemicals engineering, oil & gas engineering, pharmaceutical engineering

Overview: Process Engineering and Analytics (PE&A) within Drug Product Design translates small-scale processes into commercial-scale operations, driving process understanding and improvements across lab, pilot and commercial scale.
