The ER Advisor provides expert guidance on employee relations matters across our branch network and support functions. You will support managers in handling ER cases efficiently, consistently, and in line with company policy and employment law. This role helps build a high-performing, compliant, and engaged workforce, ensuring GSF Car Parts remains a great place to work.
Key Responsibilities
- Employee Relations Case Management
- Provide timely advice to managers on disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance, and conduct matters.
- Manage a varied ER case load from start to finish, ensuring fair process and accurate documentation.
- Attend formal ER meetings (virtually or on-site) as required, supporting managers and ensuring best practice.
- Support the escalation and resolution of complex cases in collaboration with the ER Manager or HRBP team.
- Maintain up-to-date ER case records, trackers, and reports.
- Policy & Compliance
- Ensure all ER activities comply with UK employment law, ACAS guidelines, and GSF policies.
- Support policy reviews and updates, recommending improvements based on case trends and operational needs.
- Help ensure consistent policy application across the branch network.
- Manager Coaching & Support
- Build capability within the management population by providing guidance, coaching, and clarity around HR processes.
- Deliver training sessions or briefings on ER topics, people policies, and best practice.
- Promote proactive people management to reduce ER risk.
- Culture & Engagement
- Support HR initiatives aimed at improving engagement, inclusion, and wellbeing.
- Work with HRBPs to identify trends, hotspots, and opportunities to improve working practices.
- Contribute to creating a positive, supportive, and high-performance culture aligned with GSF values.
Essential Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Experience in an Employee Relations or HR Advisor role with significant ER exposure.
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and ER best practice.
- Confident managing disciplinary, grievance, absence, and performance cases end-to-end.
- Excellent communication skills—able to explain complex issues clearly to managers at all levels.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with changing priorities.
- Strong organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Confident decision-maker with sound judgement and professionalism.
