Job opportunity with Met Consultancy Group
Job Description
Ready to move beyond Senior Surveyor?
You know surveying. Now it’s time to take the next step.
We’re looking for an experienced surveyor to join Met GeoEnvironmental as an Assistant Survey Manager — a role that gives you the chance to develop your management career while staying close to the technical work you enjoy.
This is about more responsibility, more influence and more opportunity to shape how projects and people succeed.
STEP UP. WITHOUT STEPPING AWAY.
You won’t be leaving surveying behind.
You’ll use your technical experience to help plan and deliver a varied programme of:
Topographical | Measured Building | Monitoring | Laser Scanning | Setting-out
You’ll be involved from initial enquiry and quotation through to fieldwork, quality assurance and final delivery.
Along the way, you’ll build experience in project management, commercial decision‑making, client relationships, quality assurance and team development.
In short: you’ll start turning your technical expertise into leadership.
EVERY PROJECT IS DIFFERENT
At Met GeoEnvironmental, surveying isn’t just about collecting data.
It’s about solving problems.
One day you could be planning a complex topographical survey. The next, reviewing a point cloud, resolving a control issue or helping a survey team deliver information that will influence a major development or infrastructure project.
And you won’t be doing it alone.
You’ll work alongside land surveyors, measured building surveyors, utility surveyors, geophysicists and GIS specialists.
That means more knowledge. More collaboration. More opportunities to broaden your expertise.
THIS IS WHERE YOU START BUILDING YOUR MANAGEMENT CAREER
We’ll give you the opportunity to develop in the areas that matter when moving from senior technical surveying into management:
PROJECTS
Plan programmes, allocate resources and keep projects moving.
PEOPLE
Coach, mentor and support surveyors as they develop.
CLIENTS
Build relationships and become a trusted point of contact.
COMMERCIAL
Get involved in quotations, budgets, resources and project control.
QUALITY
Review deliverables and help maintain high technical standards.
IMPROVEMENT
Help us find better ways of working and build on your own career.
This isn’t management in name only.
It’s hands‑on experience that prepares you for what comes next.
COULD THIS BE YOU?
You’ll probably be operating at Senior Surveyor level, or have equivalent experience in a surveying or geospatial business.
You’ll bring:
- Strong experience in topographical, measured building surveying and laser scanning.
- Extensive software knowledge with experience of packages such as Cyclone, TruView, Recap, Undet / CloudWorx. CloudCompare, 3DR, Revit, Pix4D amongst others
- Broad technical knowledge across surveying disciplines.
- A sharp eye for quality and detail.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- The ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities.
- Confidence dealing with clients, colleagues and suppliers.
- A practical, solutions‑focused mindset.
- An understanding of project costs and commercial priorities.
- Good IT and communication skills, including Word and Excel.
- Advanced health and safety awareness.
- A full UK driving licence.
Even better if you’ve already had experience coaching surveyors, preparing quotations, managing budgets or coordinating field and office teams.
WHERE COULD THIS TAKE YOU?
We want this role to be a genuine career step, not simply another job title.
You’ll get structured training, practical management experience and support with professional development, including CICES membership where appropriate.
The longer‑term opportunity is to develop towards senior management and wider operational leadership.
So if you’re asking yourself: What’s next after Senior Surveyor?
This could be it.
WHAT YOU’LL GET
£42,000–£50,000 salary depending on experience, plus:
- Support for relevant qualifications and professional development
- Professional membership fees paid and access to our CICES Approved Development Scheme where appropriate including structured technical and management training
- 25 days annual leave a year increasing to 30 with service, plus 8 Bank Holidays.
- Vehicle or company car allowance
- Approved overtime as pay or additional leave
- Cycle to Work scheme
- Employee discounts and rewards
More importantly: A chance to build a career — not just a job.
WHO ARE WE?

Established in 1990, our team of around 40 surveyors, geophysicists, technical and specialists and support staff To bring this close to 5,000 characters without losing impact, I’d reduce repetition rather than flatten the distinctive style. The advert’s strongest device is the direct, candidate‑focused progression story—so keep the punchy headings and short emphatic lines, but make each section earn its space.
Infrastructure | Development | Transport | Energy | Heritage | Regeneration
We bring different disciplines together to solve complex problems — and we are looking for people who want to be part of that. We are renowned for developing great surveyors and providing clients with a quality service.
READY TO TAKE THE NEXT STEP?
If you’re an experienced surveyor who wants more responsibility, more variety and the opportunity to develop as a leader, we want to hear from you.
