We are hiring for a Student Accommodation Remediation Project in Glasgow. We are looking for an experienced Bricklayer Site Manager to represent the Head Contractor and oversee the bricklaying subcontractor, delivering fire protection and upgrade works. The first phase will involve overseeing the removal and replacement of existing bricks on the building, approx 1000.
The Role
As Site Manager, you will be responsible for running the job on behalf of the Head Contractor and overseeing the appointed Bricklaying Subcontractor. The bricklaying subcontractor will have their own supervisor managing the squads, but you will take overall responsibility for:
- Health & Safety and site compliance
- Daily management of the works
- Toolbox Talks and site inductions
- Monitoring programme and progress
- Quality checks on brickwork
- Coordinating with the subcontractor and wider project team
- Ensuring works are delivered to the required standards
- Reporting progress and any issues to the Contracts Manager
The project is an existing building that has been stripped back for fire remediation works, with further phases potentially following Phase 1.
About You
A bricklaying background or deep understanding of brickwork is essential. This is not a general Site Manager position β you need to understand how bricklaying works, be confident overseeing bricklayers and be capable of identifying quality issues.
You must have:
- SMSTS
- First Aid
- Strong knowledge of brickwork and bricklaying
- Previous Site Management experience
- Experience overseeing subcontractors
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety
- Ability to run the job confidently and independently
Project & Support
Phase 1: Minimum 8β10 weeks Potential Phase 2 & 3: If all goes to plan, the overall project could run for approximately 35 weeks. The Contracts Manager and Director will be available by phone daily for support and will attend site every 1β2 weeks.
Office induction: 27th August Start on site: 31st August
