About the Role
As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day operation of the home, ensuring compliance with Ofsted regulations, Children's Homes Regulations 2015, and Quality Standards. You will lead and motivate the staff team while promoting positive outcomes for children and young people through high-quality, child-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager in the daily running of the home.
- Lead and supervise Residential Support Workers and Senior Residential Support Workers.
- Promote and maintain a strong safeguarding culture.
- Ensure compliance with Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
- Assist with induction, supervision and staff development.
- Monitor care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of all documentation.
- Lead shifts and provide management support when required.
- Participate in the on-call rota.
- Promote positive behaviour and therapeutic parenting approaches.
- Build positive relationships with children, families and professionals.
- Liaise effectively with Local Authorities, Ofsted, schools, health professionals and external agencies.
- Support children to achieve positive educational, emotional and social outcomes.
- Monitor medication administration and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Support the Registered Manager during Ofsted inspections.
- Deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence.
Essential Requirements
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to complete if not already achieved).
- Minimum of 3 years' experience working within a children's residential setting.
- Experience supervising or leading staff.
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
- Good understanding of Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills.
- Enhanced DBS.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Previous experience as a Deputy Manager.
- Experience preparing for Ofsted inspections.
- Knowledge of therapeutic care models.
