As our Skilled Operative, you will support the Line Leader in the safe, efficient, and compliant running of the production line. The role ensures products are packed according to customer specifications, production targets, quality standards and agreed schedules, while maintaining high standards of safety and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
Shift Pattern: Day Shift – 5 out of 7 days a week – 48 hour contract
Key Responsibilities
- Production
- Support the Line Leader in daily operational tasks.
- Ensure machines operate at optimum efficiency and achieve agreed performance targets.
- Maintain machinery cleanliness and ensure it remains in good working order.
- Follow the production plan to ensure orders are completed on time for dispatch, adapting to changes as required.
- Accurately report faults and downtime, ensuring correct data capture within the OEE system (LineView).
- Monitor KPIs and track performance against targets, maintaining a continuous improvement mindset.
- Escalate issues promptly to the Line Leader when necessary.
- Provide cover and complete additional tasks as requested by the Line Leader.
- Quality
- Ensure all packed products meet customer specifications.
- Identify and report potential quality issues to the Team Leader or Manager.
- Conduct and record required checks, including weight verification and print clarity, at the correct frequency.
- Maintain General Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards at all times.
- Complete all technical checks to ensure full compliance with customer and company requirements.
- Teamwork
- Support staff supervision to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Contribute positively to team morale and effective communication on the line.
- Health & Safety
- Maintain a clean and organised working area, following a "clean as you go" approach.
- Adhere to all Health & Safety and Technical policies and procedures.
- Promote and actively support a strong food safety culture within the team.
- Ensure all required safety checks are completed accurately and on time.
- Record and report safety conversations and incidents within the system.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience working in a fast-paced production or manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
- Good understanding of health & safety practices.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Basic numerical and recording skills.
Desirable
- Experience using OEE systems (e.g., LineView).
- Knowledge of GMP and food safety standards.
- Previous experience supporting or deputising for a Line Leader.
- Has experience driving a forklift or an electric pallet truck.
