We are looking for an experienced and driven Engineering Shift Manager to lead our engineering function during shift operations within a fast‑paced food manufacturing environment. This key leadership role is responsible for ensuring reliability, safety, and performance of production and packing equipment while supporting operational excellence across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the shift engineering team to maximise equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Ensure rapid and effective response to equipment breakdowns, minimising production disruption.
  • Manage and deliver Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities to a high standard.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on equipment failures and implement robust corrective actions.
  • Collaborate closely with Production and Technical teams to improve plant performance and reliability.
  • Support the delivery and commissioning of engineering improvement and CAPEX projects.
  • Deliver key engineering KPIs including downtime reduction, PPM completion, and response times.

What We're Looking For

  • Time‑served or recognised qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Previous experience in an Engineering Management or Engineering Team Leader role within Food Manufacturing or FMCG.
  • Strong understanding of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
  • Experience in fault finding across mechanical, electrical, and automated systems.
  • Knowledge of PUWER, LOLER, and Health & Safety legislation.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop engineering teams.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with experience using Root Cause Analysis techniques.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
