We have an exciting opportunity to lead the engineering team in providing a timely and efficient support service to all the site production operations, thus minimising the disruption caused by breakdowns and maintaining their service level agreements. One of the main objectives for the Engineering Leader is to ensure factory production machinery and equipment is maintained, ensuring that production downtime is kept to a minimum whilst ensuring the appropriate Health, Safety & Food Hygiene standards are met.
This is an opportunity for a seasoned team leader to take on a new challenge or an experienced Engineer looking for their first team leader role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all work is conducted in line with the Company’s policies, high standards of hygiene and workplace tidiness.
- Carry out all such work required in line with the planned preventative maintenance schedule to ensure that all equipment and machinery is adequately maintained.
- Attend machinery breakdowns to carry out the necessary electrical and/or mechanical diagnostic checks.
- Develop standard and safe working procedures to deliver continued improvement.
- In liaison with the production operations, ensure that the allocation of work is issued in priority order, considering individual team members’ skills to maximise efficiency, minimising disruption to production and facilitating the production processes.
- Participate in & lead projects that may arise, inputting into the design, fabrication and operation of kit as appropriate.
- Actively seek improvements to equipment, systems and procedures to continually strive to improve the way the department and factory operate, including highlighting safety, efficiency, and reliability where possible.
- In liaison with the Engineering Manager, ensure an up-to-date knowledge of all new legislation and techniques concerning your sphere of employment and request training as appropriate.
- Develop the skill base of the Engineering Team through coaching, training, and development of those not equipped with required skills to achieve their personal & department objectives. Utilise the experience of others to initiate one’s own personal development.
- Lead the engineers on site to monitor work output, ensuring that the highest standards are maintained.
- In the absence of the Engineering Manager, ensure that all systems and procedures are maintained and assume responsibility as required.
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience in team leadership, development and mentoring.
- Ability to work under pressure and tight timelines.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Hands-on approach.
- Team player.
- Hold a level 3 engineering qualification (mechanical or electrical).
Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday – 1/3 weekends
2 weekly shift rotation:
- Week 1: 6am to 2.30pm
- Week 2: 9am to 6pm
