Grwp Llandrillo Menai was established in 2012 as a result of mergers between Coleg Llandrillo, Coleg Menai and Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor. It employs 2,000 staff and delivers courses to around 21,000 students, including over 1,500 higher education students, across Anglesey, Conwy, Denbighshire and Gwynedd. The Grwp aims to support the economy of North Wales by equipping local people with the skills and qualifications needed to ensure the competitiveness and success of the region.

The Construction Department at Coleg Menai is a forward-thinking department offering courses in a range of construction disciplines. Teaching and learning takes place with access to industry standard equipment and in modern facilities. The role of a Lecturer in Carpentry is to organise and deliver classroom theory sessions in Carpentry to level 3 and associated additional topics. The role also requires the successful applicant to teach practical in a workshop setting and carry out assessment of learners' work, which could involve going out to the workplace to carry out assessment.

Lecturers will also liaise with the Awarding Organisation (City & Guilds) and ensure that the quality of learner work is maintained through internal quality assurance activities. The role also involves leadership within the team, ensuring that assessors and instructors are working on the same topics in the workshop as are being taught in theory sessions. In addition to this, there will be regular tutorial sessions to ensure all learners are on track and to enrich their time at college. Providing opportunities for learners to take part in Skills Competition Wales and World Skills competitions will also fall under the role's remit.

Contract Type: Full time

Weekly hours: 37 hours per week. 835 hours annual teaching time. 24 to 26 hours teaching per week. Up to 5 hours per week working off site in agreement with manager.

Annual Leave: 46 days leave per annum. All normally observed public holidays, determined annually. Up to 5 days efficiency closure days per annum, determined annually.
