Grwp Llandrillo Menai was established in 2012 as a result of mergers between Coleg Llandrillo, Coleg Menai and Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor. It employs 2,000 staff and delivers courses to around 21,000 students, including over 1,500 higher education students, across Anglesey, Conwy, Denbighshire and Gwynedd. The Grwp aims to support the economy of North Wales by equipping local people with the skills and qualifications needed to ensure the competitiveness and success of the region.
The Construction Department at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor is a forward-thinking department offering courses across a range of construction disciplines. Teaching and learning take place with access to industry-standard equipment and within modern facilities. We are seeking a permanent full-time member of staff to join the Colleges Construction Department; and we are looking to employ an enthusiastic and dedicated individual with experience in the Construction field, specifically in the area of Plastering.
The role of the practical skills supervisor will involve working under the guidance of the lecturer in providing high-quality bilingual education to learners across a range of qualifications and levels, including Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3, on full-time, part-time and apprenticeship programmes. The role will include planning and delivering practical sessions in the workshop, carrying out site visits and assessing work on-site when required, and providing ongoing support to ensure that every learner is given the best opportunity to succeed.
A strong link with the 14-16 provision is essential, with an expectation for the successful candidate to contribute to high-quality education provision from 14-16 through to further education and work-based learning. A proactive role is also expected in supporting the lecturer and the team to develop the Plastering courses and provision, ensuring that learners are at the heart of everything we do.
The successful candidate will be expected to deliver high standards of teaching and learning in a workshop and support the lecturer to provide ongoing support, advice and guidance that promotes learner success. Typically, a Full time Practical Skills Supervisor will be timetabled for up to 1000 hours in each academic year for direct contact with learners and with a minimum of 500 hours per annum of class supervision in a practical workshop setting.

- Teaching practical sessions to a high standard in order to create effective learning opportunities and to enable all learners to achieve to the best of their ability.
- Ensuring a professional and safe environment in the workshop that reflects what is expected on a workplace site.
- Maintaining high standards of the provision and the support given to learners.
- Ensuring that the Groups policies and procedures are followed.
- Supporting learners to succeed in order to achieve or exceed their targets, by appropriately challenging and stretching learners.
Contract type - Term time (40 weeks), Permanent
Weekly hours - 37 hours
Pension Provider - Local Government Pension Scheme
Annual Leave - 28 days leave per annum, rising to 32 days after 5 full holiday years continuous service (01 September to 31 August). All normally observed public holidays, determined annually. Up to 5 days efficiency closure days per annum, determined annually. Term Time contracts will receive a pro rata entitlement to the above paid as part of annual salary.
