Grwp Llandrillo Menai was established in 2012 as a result of mergers between Coleg Llandrillo, Coleg Menai and Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor. It employs 2,000 staff and delivers courses to around 21,000 students, including over 1,500 higher education students, across Anglesey, Conwy, Denbighshire and Gwynedd. The Grwp aims to support the economy of North Wales by equipping local people with the skills and qualifications needed to ensure the competitiveness and success of the region.
The Agriculture and Agricultural Engineering department is located at Coleg Glynllifon. Students study full-time level 2 and 3 courses with the possibility of completing an apprenticeship with a suitable employer. Students enter the world of work by working for employers who offer Agricultural services, such as selling and maintaining machinery on farms or by contracting.
With guidance, the Practical Skills Supervisor will work to develop students' understanding and skills through planned practical activities. These tasks follow a scheme of work that develops during term time to establish students' competence so they meet the requirements of the course. The department trains students in various aspects of agriculture mainly related to the local industry, including dairy cattle, beef cattle, or sheep production.
The Practical Skills Supervisor will work as part of an assessment team and be responsible for the assessment and grading process in the relevant areas.
- Weekly Hours: 29.5 hours per week
- Weeks per Year: 36 weeks
- Annual Leave: 28 days leave per annum, rising to 32 days after 5 full holiday years continuous service (01 September to 31 August).
- All normally observed public holidays, determined annually.
- Up to 5 days efficiency closure days per annum, determined annually.
- Part Time contracts will receive a pro rata entitlement to the above.
- Term Time contracts will receive a pro rata entitlement to the above paid as part of annual salary.
