Part of an international and highly respected business, GRW Talent’s client integrates leading-edge technologies into fuel, combustion, fluid, actuation, and electronic control systems for the aerospace and industrial markets. At Prestwick, they repair and overhaul aircraft engine fuel controls for customers in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. They now need to recruit a Control Systems Engineer.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Control Systems Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing controls and systems of work. Your primary responsibility will be enabling the integration and use of smart tools into existing processes at the Prestwick location. This is a key position, and your contributions will directly influence the success of new operations as they grow their capabilities. You will work to harness new technologies to advance automation and improve measuring capabilities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Control Systems Design: Develops and implements low to medium complexity control systems, ensuring they meet industry standards and best practices. Participates in system commissioning and ensures designs meet project requirements.
  • Project Support and Leadership: Manage small-scale controls projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and deliverables are met under supervision.
  • Production Support & Troubleshooting: Identifies and resolves low level issues within production and development control systems using predefined methods and guidelines.
  • Technical Documentation: Create and refine controls system documentation, including diagrams, manuals, and reports to ensure alignment with best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Automation, Safety and System Integration: Implement simple automation and safety systems. Ensures safety standards are met and integrates them into control systems.

The successful candidate is ideally educated to degree calibre in an engineering discipline, ideally Electrical, Electronic or Mechatronics Engineering. You are an experienced PLC Control Engineer, Controls Systems Engineer, Controls Development Engineer or Automation Engineer. Mechatronics knowledge and a working knowledge of mechatronics theory, including the interaction between mechanical components, electrical systems, and control logic is required. You are proficient in using standard controls engineering tools and hardware, including PLC/HMI's, torque drivers, motion control systems, vision system components, and edge devices, with the ability to apply them effectively to standard design and implementation tasks. A background in developing new control system technology for automating manufacturing machinery or engineering tasks would be a distinct advantage.

Site based, your hours will typically be 8am-4.15pm Monday to Thursday and 8am-2.15pm on a Friday. This is a new role into the team, and you will be front and centre to its successful execution across the site.

An excellent base salary dependent on your level of experience is supplemented by an extensive benefits package to include a companywide bonus scheme, 33 days leave, 9% company pension contribution, salary sacrifice schemes, income protection and life insurance.
