Role Overview

Based in the beautiful Scottish Borders (circa 1 hour south of Edinburgh), GRW Talent’s client is a well‑established global manufacturer of pre‑connectorised, blown fibre cable, and ducted network solutions and is at the forefront of the fibre‑to‑the‑X industry.

They have two sites in Scotland and form part of an international business stretching into Europe, the USA and Middle‑East.

The group is undergoing extensive growth and change right now.

To help facilitate this, they need to recruit up to four Quality Technicians.

These roles will be working on a continental 3 on 3 off rotating days and nights pattern.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor production lifecycle, perform regular testing/audits to ensure compliance.
  • Support the business areas to uphold continuity of supply.
  • Collaborate with different departments to develop corrective actions, solutions, controls and improvements.
  • Support the NCR process, driving continuous improvement.
  • Inspect and test materials, processes and products to ensure specifications are met.
  • Identify issues, segregate non‑conforming product and determine disposition.
  • Perform internal audits and provide support for external and supplier audits to ISO9001.
  • Research, analyse and report within a manufacturing environment.
  • Perform calibration duties and maintain the company’s calibration schedule.
  • Ensure safe and high standard of packaging of all customer products.
  • Work with internal teams to increase customer satisfaction by reducing scrap and reworks and increasing tonnage.

Qualifications

Ideally you are educated to HNC/HND calibre or Time Served in Engineering, Manufacturing, Science or a technical discipline.

You should have experience of working in a medium to high volume production environment.

A solid understanding of ISO 9001 is taken as a given.

Ideally you have good knowledge and a proven track record in problem solving, especially Root Cause Analysis and 7‑step Corrective Action plans, experience of implementing change from reactive to proactive practices and some appreciation of ERP/MRP systems.

Our client is open to considering candidates with transferable skills and knowledge.

A methodical mindset with strong adherence to processes is a good start.

We would look at candidates who have worked in SAP/ERP environments, applied good root‑cause corrective action tools to solving problems, looked at non‑conformance reviews (NCR) or carried out investigations, auditing processes and standards, and used measurement devices.

People from non‑production backgrounds such as NHS, armed forces, lab testing and science backgrounds can also be considered.

Compensation & Benefits

This is a site‑based role.

Your base salary of £28,195 plus 26% S/A (OTE £35,525 per annum) is supplemented by a good range of benefits, career development, training and the chance to join a friendly and committed team and culture.
