A permanent role in electronics manufacturing based in Hamilton, Grw Talent’s client is building out a high-volume electronic probe test card production and assembly business. They now need to make the key hire of an Assembly & Test Technician. This role involves:
- Supporting the efficient assembly, testing, and maintenance of probe cards and printed circuit assemblies.
- Operating high-precision electro-mechanical systems, ensuring equipment reliability, and maintaining quality standards throughout the production process.
- Diagnosing and repairing Automated Test Equipment (ATE) to component level.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining accurate production documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and calibrate manufacturing equipment for production runs.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on production machinery.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment faults to minimise downtime.
- Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency and adherence to specifications.
- Assist in the assembly and production of probe cards.
- Carry out in-process quality checks and report defects or discrepancies.
- Support process improvements to increase efficiency and product quality.
- Log maintenance activities, repairs, and troubleshooting actions.
- Record production and quality data using production management systems.
- Interpret schematic circuitry and components to support fault finding and repairs.
Experience:
- Ideally an HNC / HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject.
- Some experience in electronic component testing.
- Strong electro-mechanical and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to debug to component level.
- Experience working with high-precision equipment and manufacturing processes.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of or certification to relevant IPC standards.
