GROUP PROCUREMENT CATEGORY MANAGER (MANUFACTURING PROCUREMENT)

REMOTE UK BASED – SALARY £65-80,000 PLUS BENEFITS / INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL

Based in the beautiful Scottish Borders (circa 1 hour south of Edinburgh), Grw Talent\’s client is a well-established global manufacturer of pre-connectorised, blown fibre cable, and ducted network solutions and is at the forefront of the fibre-to-the-X industry. They have two sites in Scotland and form part of an international business stretching into Europe (Denmark/Germany), the USA and Middle-East (UAE). The group is undergoing extensive growth and change right now. To help facilitate this, they now need to recruit a Group Procurement Category Manager.

The global nature of this role means you will be working across senior Director and C-Suite levels internally. You will be expected to undertake regular travel to all key global sites – Scotland, Europe and Middle East alongside key suppliers. Candidates should expect up to 25-30% time traveling. This role can be done remotely from home in the UK as it is a group position.

Reporting to Supply Chain Director level, the Group Procurement Category Manager will take ownership of a raw material portfolio up to c£100m in spend per annum. There is a concerted effort to build a more collegiate group structure across the business. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Building out the strategic supplier development roadmap for the procurement and supply of key raw material products across all sites – mainly granulated plastics, extrusions, mouldings and other key assemblies.
• You will support other Category Managers in areas like Energy.
• Work with all site and c-suite leads to design an integrated international corporate procurement strategy to leverage better economy of scale and efficiency savings.
• Build out long term strategic purchasing and supply contracts.
• Play a key role supporting the onboarding of enterprise level platforms (SAP Hana4 ideally) to ensure supply chain optics are optimised across the business.
• Ensure your global arrangements and negotiated contracts tie in with local sites at country level and ensure seamless supply of key commodities.
• At a macro level keep track of global headwinds impacting on the strategic supply chain and ensure the business remains agile and nimble to deal with these.
• With other internal stakeholders do a full audit of all current suppliers to consolidate and find best practice where possible.

We are looking for a proven Category Manager, Lead/Principal Buyer or Procurement Manager. Ideally, you are educated to degree calibre and/or hold relevant professional CIPS qualifications (MCIPS/APICS). Candidates will have worked in a volume driven production / manufacturing environment and ideally will have first hand experience using SAP ERP (or other relevant ERP systems) platforms to manage the procurement and planning functions. Candidates will need to have experience in managing large global category spend (>£100m) across multi-site businesses and experience with direct production material procurement; polyethylene, extruded plastics, blow moulds and granulated plastics advantageous. You are able to show experience of creating and implementing category strategies to mitigate business risk, reduce cost and ensure steady flow/supply.
