PURCHASING MANAGER based in Cowdenbeath, Fife, permanent job. Excellent salary and benefits package. Headquartered in Dunfermline and with multiple locations throughout Scotland, GRW Talent's client is amongst the UK's largest home improvement companies with a highly recognisable and established brand that is synonymous with quality. Due to continuous sales growth in both their domestic and commercial customer bases, they now need to make the key hire of a Purchasing Manager at their manufacturing facility. Responsibilities:
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers for profiles (uPVC/aluminium/steel), glass, hardware, seals, fasteners, and consumables.
- Identify alternative and backup suppliers to mitigate supply chain risk.
- Plan and manage purchasing in line with production schedules and order forecasts.
- Maintain optimal stock levels to avoid production stoppages or excess inventory.
- Monitor lead times closely, especially for custom profiles, glass units, and imported materials.
- Negotiate pricing, rebates, and payment terms to reduce material costs.
- Prepare and manage procurement budgets and cost reports.
- Work closely with production, planning, and warehouse teams to align material.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to material flow and efficiency.
- Handle supplier quality issues, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
- Monitor supply chain disruptions (delays, shortages, price volatility) and implement contingency plans.
- Track supplier performance using KPIs such as delivery accuracy, lead time, and defect rates.
- Generate regular procurement reports on spend, supplier performance, and stock levels.
- Lead and develop procurement or purchasing staff.
Qualifications:
Ideally educated to degree calibre, we are looking for a proven Procurement / Purchasing Manager or Principal / Senior Buyer ready and hungry to step up. Candidates will have experience in a manufacturing, construction or complex engineered products. We would be especially keen to hear from candidates used to working in high SKU / product mix environments with short cycle and product manufacturing turnaround times. Ideally, you have CIPS level IV or above. You are used to managing and leading people and diverse procurement teams.
