Based in the beautiful Scottish Borders (circa 1 hour south of Edinburgh), GRW Talent's client is a well-established global manufacturer of pre-connectorised, blown fibre cable, and ducted network solutions and is at the forefront of the fibre-to-the-X industry. They have two sites in Scotland and form part of an international business stretching into Europe, the USA and Middle-East. The group is undergoing extensive growth and change right now. To help facilitate this, they now need to recruit up to four Quality Technicians.
These roles will be working on a continental 3 on 3 off rotating days and nights pattern. Reporting to the UK Quality Manager, the Quality Technician will ensure that internal, customer and regulatory quality standards are met and a continuously improving trend is established. Key responsibilities will include:
- Monitor production lifecycle, perform regular testing/audits to ensure compliance.
- Supporting the business areas to uphold continuity of supply.
- Collaborate with different departments to develop corrective actions, solutions, controls and improvements.
- Support the NCR process, driving continuous improvement.
- Inspecting and testing of materials, processes and products to ensure specifications are being met.
- Ability to identify issues, segregate non-conforming product and determine disposition.
- Perform internal audits and provide support for external and supplier audits to ISO9001.
- Ability to research, analyse and report within a manufacturing environment.
- Perform calibration duties and maintain the Company's calibration schedule.
- Ensuring safe and high standard of packaging of all customer products.
- Work with internal teams to increase customer satisfaction by reducing scrap and reworks and increasing tonnage.
Ideally you are educated to HNC/HND calibre or Time Served in Engineering, Manufacturing, Science or a technical discipline. We are looking for candidates who have experience of working in a medium to high volume production environment. A solid understanding of ISO 9001 is taken as a given. Ideally, you have good knowledge and a proven track record in problem solving, especially Root Cause Analysis and 7-step Corrective Action plans, experience of implementing change from reactive to proactive practices and some appreciation of ERP/MRP systems.
Our client is open to considering candidates with transferable skills and knowledge. A methodical mindset with strong adherence to processes is a good start. We would look at candidates who have worked in SAP/ERP environments, applied good route cause corrective action tools to solving problems, looked at non-conformance reviews (NCR) or carried out investigations, auditing processes and standards and people using measurement devices. We can take people from non-production backgrounds e.g. NHS, armed forces, lab testing and science backgrounds.
This is a site-based role. Your base salary of Β£28,195 plus 26% S/A (OTE Β£35,525 per annum) is supplemented by a good range of benefits, career development, training and the chance to join a friendly and committed team and culture.
