What will you do? Make an impact! The successful candidate will join the site management team and be responsible for engineering projects across the Heysham operation - including the planning, costing, application and implementation of key projects on site, the management of change, documentation, integration into operational and maintenance processes & procedures. They will also be accountable for management of the supply chain, to ensure compliance to statutory, regulatory and group requirements, for maintenance of site P&ID mechanical and electrical drawings (including site maps required to COMAH and other purposes) and be expected to act as site lead for engineering site engagement in process improvement and optimisation.
Key Duties / Responsibilities:
- Deputises for the engineering manager when required.
- Ensures site engineering projects are scoped and delivered to high standards of safety, productivity and presentational standards.
- Actively champions the management of change process through clear scopes, stakeholder engagement, acceptance criteria and robust commissioning.
- Support the Operations and Technical Manager to deal with customer enquiries and assess whether requested inputs are suitable for processing on site.
- Assist the engineering manager with workload planning and cost control.
- Assist in the production of a monthly report for the Site Management meeting summarising activity in the department and attend the Site Management Meetings.
- Co-ordinate any trials of new equipment or inputs in cooperation with the operational and lab team.
- In conjunction with the Engineering Manager, identify and schedule site improvements for safety, reliability and productivity of the plants to meet the changing market conditions.
- Form part of the site Emergency response team.
- Ensure relevant spreadsheets are kept up-to-date and report relevant engineering performance to the Site & Corporate teams.
- Ensure the library of operating procedures and risk assessments for engineering are kept up to date as production or process changes are introduced or required.
- Review process change proposals and contribute to any process design or modifications including participation in any HAZOP / HAZIDs.
- Assist the Engineering Manager in all aspects of their work.
Do you have what it takes?
- Technical aptitude.
- Process orientated.
- Waste management, treatment and blending experience.
- A solid understanding of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, with an ability to observe the requirements of the Company Safety Policy and other relevant legislation.
- Able to demonstrate the attributes of project management and attention to detail in all areas of responsibility - optimising the present whilst delivering improvements for the future.
- Able to hold suppliers and contractors to account whilst building key relationships.
- Level-headed, practical and analytical with an agile approach to problem-solving.
- Creative thinker and innovator who is open to, and able to deliver, change.
- Results focussed with a commercial awareness.
- IT literate particularly AutoCAD, CMMS systems, SAP, Microsoft Word and Excel.
