In this leadership role you drive compliance and regulatory reporting for the business, shaping SMCR oversight, horizon scanning, and regulatory change management. You’ll partner with senior stakeholders to ensure obligations are met and risks are mitigated, while building a strong compliance framework. Your work supports informed decision-making and robust regulatory engagement across Risk, Legal, HR and Compliance. This is a visibility role with real impact on governance, reporting and the organisations culture of compliance.

Responsibilities
- Act as subject matter expert for general compliance, regulatory reporting and horizon scanning
- Lead SMCR compliance oversight, ensuring governance records and regulatory requirements are met
- Develop and maintain horizon scanning framework to identify emerging regulatory changes
- Manage regulatory change activity including identification, assessment, tracking and implementation
- Coordinate preparation and submission of regulatory reports with governance and approvals
- Produce management information and reporting for senior management and governance forums
- Support responses to regulatory requests, reviews, consultations and investigations
- Maintain compliance risk profiles and ensure effective mitigation of emerging risks
- Oversee assigned compliance controls, including testing, evidence and escalation
- Build relationships with regulators, industry bodies and internal stakeholders for regulatory engagement
- Manage and develop reporting frameworks and MI to improve regulatory and business insight
- Lead and develop team capability and foster a culture of compliance and risk awareness
Key requirements
- Significant experience in a Compliance, Risk or Regulatory environment
- Strong knowledge of FCA regulations, SMCR, regulatory reporting and risk management
- Experience in regulatory change management and horizon scanning
- Proven people management experience (lead, coach and develop others)
- Compliance qualification or equivalent professional qualification
- Excellent analytical skills for complex regulatory issues and practical solutions
- Strong communication and stakeholder management with ability to influence at all levels
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and proactive problem solving
- Experience producing regulatory reporting, MI and governance reporting for senior stakeholders
- Knowledge of motor finance sector (advantageous)
