The Role
We’re looking for a motivated and detail-focused Credit Controller to join our finance team in Sheffield. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Credit Controller looking for their next challenge, but we’re also open to considering someone with no previous Credit Control experience if this is the career they genuinely want to pursue and develop. We are also open to candidates looking for a part-time opportunity of 4 days per week, making this a fantastic role for someone seeking greater flexibility alongside their career. The role offers hybrid working, providing a great balance between office and home working. You’ll play an important role in supporting the business by managing outstanding debt, improving cash flow and building strong relationships with customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Chasing outstanding debts from customers by telephone, email and letter
- Building positive relationships with customers and negotiating payment plans where required
- Assessing credit applications and carrying out credit checks
- Resolving customer queries relating to invoices and payments
- Monitoring customer accounts and following up overdue balances
- Preparing reports on debtors, collections and cash flow
- Working closely with the wider finance team to minimise credit risk and improve cash collection

Requirements
- Previous Credit Control or finance experience is desirable, but not essential
- Someone who is genuinely interested in making Credit Control their career
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Confident speaking with customers and handling payment-related conversations
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good knowledge of MS Office; experience with accounting software is advantageous
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
