Are you a focused, enthusiastic team player who enjoys a varied and interesting caseload? We are looking for someone like you to join our team! If we are a good fit for you, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of town and country planning projects from environmental sustainability to multimillion-pound regeneration schemes.
What will you be doing?
- Giving advice to the Councils Planning Department, the Council and members on all matters related to Town and Country Planning and associated legislation.
- Being responsible for providing innovative solutions to deal with complex issues arising in connection with the work within the team and the legal issues presented by officers.
- To provide accurate advice and guidance to team members, client officers and Members in all planning law matters.
- Attend, advise and provide legal services to council Committees and Panels as required, particularly Development Management Committee meetings.
About You
As an ideal candidate, you will have:
- Admitted qualified solicitor, barrister, or legal executive with an understanding of local government.
- Negotiating and drafting experience with regard to agreements under s.106 Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and any other related agreements.
- Ability to work under pressure, using initiative and adopting a proactive solution focused approach.
- Able to cultivate good working relationships with officers, members and professionals of external organisations.
- Ability to manage own caseload and to work effectively to high professional standards, including being able to respond quickly and accurately to urgent matters and meet deadlines.
