Pipefitter
Location: Wrexham
£28.00ph Mon-Fri / £35 P/h Weekend
10-12Hour Days 3-6 Months
Travel or Accommodation Paid if required
Gap Technical are looking for an experienced Process Pipefitters to support one of our clients with installation projects within a food manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the fabrication, installation, and modification of process pipework systems, ensuring compliance with strict hygiene and safety standards required in food production.
Responsibilities
- Install, assemble, and modify stainless steel process pipework used in food and beverage manufacturing.
- Carry out TIG welding (stainless steel) to high sanitary standards.
- Work with schedules, isometric drawings, and P&IDs to fabricate and fit pipe systems accurately.
- Install and connect pumps, valves, tanks, and processing equipment.
- Perform pipefitting work during factory upgrades, relocations, and new equipment installations.
- Conduct maintenance, repair, and replacement of process lines and fittings.
- Ensure all pipework meets food hygiene, safety, and quality requirements.
- Liaise with project engineers and contractors to deliver installations within agreed deadlines.
- Maintain compliance with health & safety legislation, hygiene standards, and permit-to-work systems.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Process Pipefitter in food manufacturing (or pharmaceutical, brewery, or dairy industries).
- Skilled in stainless steel TIG welding to sanitary standards.
- Ability to work from technical drawings and isometrics.
- Knowledge of pumps, valves, and process equipment integration.
- Familiarity with HACCP, hygiene, and food-grade manufacturing standards.
- Strong focus on health, safety, and site compliance.
- Flexibility to work on installation, shutdown, and relocation projects.
Qualifications (Continued)
- NVQ Level 3 in Pipefitting / Engineering or equivalent.
- Valid CSCS / CCNSG Safety Passport.
- IPAF, PASMA, or confined space training.
- Previous experience on major food plant installation projects.
