Location: Wigan

Shifts: 06:00 - 14:00 / 14:00 - 22:00 / 22:00 - 06:00 (1-in-5 rotation)

Salary: £40,000 - £42,000

Overtime is paid in addition to basic salary.

gap technical are looking for a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join our client's team at a leading food manufacturing site. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of machinery, utilities, and site services while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and hygiene.

Responsibilities

  • Perform reactive maintenance to minimize production downtime.
  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on mechanical and electrical equipment (if competent).
  • Maintain site utilities, buildings, and support services, ensuring compliance with legal and safety standards.
  • Support the installation, commissioning, and testing of new equipment.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless communication and minimize disruption.
  • Ensure that all work meets Food Safety, Health & Safety, and Hygiene standards.

Qualifications

  • HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Proven experience in a similar engineering role at a competent level.
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety and food safety regulations.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset and a collaborative approach to tasks.
