GAP Technical is working in partnership with a high-volume manufacturing business to recruit a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer. The role focuses on delivering effective planned and reactive maintenance across plant, equipment, and facilities to minimise downtime and support safe, efficient production.
Responsibilities
- Carry out planned, preventive, and reactive maintenance in line with site standards to ensure maximum equipment reliability and production uptime.
- Diagnose faults, identify root causes, and complete repairs efficiently to minimise downtime.
- Support installation, commissioning, and modification of plant and equipment in line with regulatory and organisational standards.
- Proactively identify and recommend improvements to plant, equipment, and maintenance processes.
- Calibrate and maintain instrumentation including weighing systems, flow control, and level measurement devices.
- Provide technical support, guidance, and training to operations teams and external contractors as required.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and 5S within workshops and production areas affected by maintenance activities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and monitor equipment performance, including efficiency, quality, and waste trends.
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, reporting hazards immediately.
Skills & Experience Required
- Multi-skilled engineer, mechanically biased (electrical capability considered).
- Proven experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work at height and within industrial environments.
- Able to work under pressure, to deadlines, and with minimal supervision.
- High level of health & safety and quality awareness.
- Minimum C&G Level 3 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Instrumentation calibration experience (essential for electrically biased engineers).
- 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (essential for electrically biased engineers).
- IPAF and/or FLT certification.
- Flexible approach and willingness to support site requirements.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, hands-on attitude.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within FMCG, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
- Exposure to continuous improvement, reliability engineering, or TPM-based maintenance.
