At Grundon, we're looking for a dynamic, passionate, and motivated individual to join our Client & Engagement team and support one of our key contracts at Kingston Hospital.

Reporting into the Client & Engagement Manager you will play a key role in driving our mission forward by managing and overseeing the safe, compliant, and efficient handling of all waste and recyclable materials across the Trust, ensuring correct segregation, collection, and disposal in accordance with relevant legislation and Trust policies.
This is a hands-on, client-facing role that combines operational responsibilities with the delivery of face-to-face training, education, and stakeholder engagement activities.
- What will you do
- Manage day to day waste operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant handling, storage, transport, and disposal of all waste streams across the site.
- Act as the main point of contact for staff, stakeholders, and hospital waste porters, maintaining strong client relationships.
- Address operational issues, non-compliance, defects, hazards, and incidents in line with company procedures, including completing the Grundon Incident Form when necessary.
- Support, train, and supervise waste operatives and porters, promoting best practices in waste management, health and safety, COSHH, infection control, and sustainability.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and audit requirements while ensuring confidentiality of patient and colleague information.
- Operate waste equipment safely and undertake operational duties as required, including waste collection, transportation, bin replacement and cleaning, cardboard baling, and acting as a Waste Porter when necessary.
- Identify opportunities to improve recycling performance, waste management processes, and overall environmental sustainability
- Support colleagues’ wellbeing and mental health by promoting a safe and inclusive environment, recognising when support may be needed, signposting available resources, and encouraging early access to wellbeing services
- Act as a waste porter and support with ad hoc duties as and when required

About You
- Qualified to GCSE level (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- Experience in safe waste disposal and management, ideally within a healthcare or waste-management setting.
- Understanding of COSHH regulations and cross-infection control.
- Strong knowledge of manual handling procedures.
- Familiarity with NHS policies, practices, and Health & Safety requirements.
- Ability to work in challenging environments, including regular exposure to dirt, dust, odours, and clinical waste, while using appropriate PPE.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and maintain clear, precise records for audit purposes.
- Effective communication and organisational skills.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work independently when required.
- Flexible, proactive, and willing to learn.
