Reporting into the Waste Transfer Manager, you will ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the waste transfer facility, helping to minimise downtime and achieve KPIs. You will also maintain high health and safety standards and carry out tasks in line with the planned preventative maintenance programme. On occasions, the jobholder may be requested to work extra hours covering holidays, bank holidays or sickness and potentially undertake any extra duties required for the operation of the facility.
What will you do:
- Safely operate and carry out daily inspections of mobile plant, completing scheduled preventative maintenance tasks.
- Inspect waste deliveries to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Record and report any non-compliant waste through non-conformance reports.
- Load recovered materials into containers, walking floor trailers, and other vehicles for onward transport, ensuring all documentation is accurately completed and loads are photographed in line with legislation.
- Work collaboratively with the team to support the manager/supervisor in maintaining a clean, safe, and organised site.
- Take responsibility for health and safety, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and promptly report any health, safety, or environmental concerns.

- Experience operating mobile plant, such as forklifts, loading shovels, and 360 excavators.
- Confidently handle documentation and record-keeping with precision, showcasing clear and effective written communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of the waste industry, with experience in a waste transfer environment considered an advantage.
- Ability to work safely in a busy, high-noise environment.
