Please note as part of this role you will also be required to attend to other company sites as and when needed.

Reporting into the Quarry Manager, you will play an important role in supporting our mission of leaving a better planet for future generations.
You will operate a range of mobile plant machinery safely and efficiently, in line with company procedures and Health & Safety requirements, while ensuring the safety of yourself, colleagues and members of the public.
You will also provide weighbridge cover when required, delivering a consistently high standard of service to both internal and external customers.

- What will you do
- Safely and competently operate a range of mobile plant machinery in line with company procedures, SOPs and Risk Assessments.
- Complete daily plant inspections and defect reports, ensuring any issues are reported and addressed promptly.
- Carry out routine daily checks and basic maintenance, including checking and topping up oil and coolant levels.
- Inspect tyres, tracks and battery connections, and grease machinery in line with manufacturer requirements.
- Refuel machinery at the end of each shift and keep vehicles clean, tidy and in good working condition.
- Report any incidents and near misses in accordance with company procedures.
- Wear and maintain company uniform and PPE at all times, in line with Health & Safety requirements.
- Provide weighbridge cover when required, delivering a high standard of service to customers and colleagues.
- Visually inspect incoming loads to ensure they meet environmental permit requirements, company acceptance criteria and the details provided on the Waste Transfer Note.
- Be flexible with working hours, including occasional overtime, to support business and quarry operations, and travel to other sites when required.
About you
- NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent experience) in mobile plant operation, with experience operating machinery such as bulldozers, articulated dumpers and loading shovels.
Quarrying experience is desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a positive, professional and team-focused approach.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety, with a willingness to undertake additional training as required.
- Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to take on new tasks, additional hours and training, and develop new skills.
- Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills, with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy environment while maintaining high standards and supporting the operational needs of the site.
- Willingness to learn and develop an understanding of site planning permissions and environmental permits.
- Proactive approach to continuous improvement, with the confidence to make suggestions and identify opportunities to improve site operations.
- Full UK driving licence
