Are you a seasoned software engineer who thrives on building robust telemetry server applications and delivering technical excellence across the full product lifecycle? Then join us in our mission to pioneer smarter solutions for moving and transforming water, reducing energy consumption, and enhancing quality of life for people.

As our new Senior Product Development Engineer, you will be developing and maintaining telemetry server applications across the full product lifecycle—from design and coding through deployment, testing, and customer support—within our SaaS platform, while mentoring team members and serving as a go-to technical escalation point for production and customer-impacting incidents. The role is based at the Grundfos Millfield office in Surrey, UK.

What you will be doing:

  • Deliver high-quality, peer-reviewed, and automated-test-covered changes on time and aligned with the release calendar.
  • Act as a technical escalation point for significant production and customer-impacting incidents, performing root cause analysis and tracking preventative actions.
  • Raise engineering quality through effective code reviews, testing practices, documentation, and mentoring of team members and contractors.
  • Investigate and resolve complex system issues across Canvas, Master Control, and customer-facing environments via the ticketing process.
  • Contribute to design reviews and continuously improve team practices and operational readiness including monitoring and alerting.

What makes you a great fit:

Above all, you are a technically strong and quality-driven engineer with deep expertise in C/C++, Java, and server-side development, combined with strong DevOps skills and a genuine passion for mentoring others and owning products end-to-end. We would also imagine that you have:

  • Strong professional experience in C/C++, Java, SQL, and developing REST APIs with PostgreSQL-backed server applications.
  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Git, and Linux environments including bash scripting and services (FTP, NTP, email).
  • Experience with Agile/SCRUM methods and producing technical documentation including design statements, test plans, and user guides.
  • Familiarity with Python, Terraform, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Working knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, S3, IoT Core, and Lambda.

Why you will love working here:

We care! Day to day, you can look forward to:

  • A working environment built around your needs, with flexible hours, home working opportunities and parental support.
  • Annual bonuses, health insurance and a strong focus on well-being activities.

How to prepare for a job interview at Grundfos

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Grundfos uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
