Are you passionate about building reliable telemetry solutions that help customers worldwide monitor and manage critical infrastructure? Then join us in our mission to pioneer smarter solutions for moving and transforming water, reducing energy consumption, and enhancing quality of life for people.

As our new Product Development Engineer, you will be developing and maintaining telemetry server applications across the full product lifecycle—from design and coding through deployment, testing, and customer support—within our SaaS platform. The role is based at the Grundfos Millfield office in Surrey, UK.

What you will be doing

As a key part of the Metasphere Product Software team, you'll create impact by delivering robust, well-documented telemetry solutions that empower a global customer base to gain real-time insights from their connected systems. Your main responsibilities include:

  • Take ownership of your tasks and deliver across the full product lifecycle for telemetry server applications: design, development, documentation, testing, CI/CD, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Investigate and resolve complex system issues in SaaS telemetry environments, following through from diagnosis to resolution.
  • Contribute to stable, operationally reliable SaaS environments including server administration and infrastructure improvements.
  • Provide clear, technically sound support to the operations team and customers through ticketing and direct investigation.
  • Integrate partner technologies into end-to-end telemetry solutions and facilitate product transfer across the value chain.
  • Produce maintainable, well-documented code, tests, and user-facing materials while sharing knowledge across the team.

What makes you a great fit

Above all, you are a hands-on software engineer with 3–4 years of experience building server-side applications, comfortable working independently across the full product lifecycle and driven to see issues through to resolution. We would also imagine that you have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (or equivalent work experience) plus 3–4 years of software development experience.
  • Strong programming skills in Java or C, Python, and SQL with PostgreSQL database experience.
  • Hands-on DevOps and CI/CD experience with Jenkins, Docker, Git, and Linux shell scripting.
  • Experience with REST API integration, Agile/SCRUM methods, and tools such as Jira.

It is a plus if you also:

  • Familiarity with AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda).
  • Experience with database-related telemetry products or integrating partner technologies into end-to-end solutions.
  • Technical documentation skills including design statements, user guides, and help files.

Why you will love working here

We care! Day to day, you can look forward to:

  • A working environment built around your needs, with flexible hours, home working opportunities and parental support.
  • Annual bonuses, health insurance and a strong focus on well-being activities.
  • Three days' additional paid leave for volunteering in your community.
  • Access to on-demand training and learning sessions and carefully structured programmes to pursue personal and professional development opportunities.

How to prepare for a job interview at Grundfos

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Grundfos uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
