Are you passionate about building quality into every release through smart test strategies and scalable automation? As our new Test Engineer, you will be defining and executing comprehensive test strategies across manual, automation, and performance testing — while building scalable frameworks that elevate quality across the entire development lifecycle. This role is located in Cambridge.

What you will be doing

  • As a key part of the Quality Engineering team, you'll create impact by driving release confidence and engineering excellence by embedding quality at every stage of our Agile delivery pipeline.
  • Your main responsibilities include:
    • Define and implement end-to-end test strategies spanning manual, automation, and performance testing.
    • Build, scale, and continuously improve a robust automation framework covering UI, API, and data validation layers.
    • Integrate testing seamlessly into Agile sprint workflows to enable rapid feedback and early defect detection.
    • Proactively identify, analyse, and address performance and scalability issues before they reach production.
    • Log, prioritise, and drive defect resolution with minimal leakage into later stages.
    • Deliver clear, data-driven quality reporting to stakeholders and champion continuous improvement in test efficiency.

What makes you a great fit

Above all, you are a quality-driven engineer with hands-on expertise in test automation frameworks, strong analytical skills across UI, API, and data layers, and a track record of embedding testing into Agile workflows. We would also imagine that you have:

  • Strong hands-on experience testing web-based user interfaces and end-to-end application workflows.
  • Proven experience creating, maintaining, and evolving test scripts, test cases, and documenting test execution results using a test management tool (Xray or similar).
  • Experience performing both manual functional testing, exploratory testing, and regression testing as part of sprint delivery.
  • Experience setting up automation frameworks, test environments, and integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proven experience defining and implementing test strategies across manual, automation, and performance testing.
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining scalable automation frameworks (UI, API, and data validation) using Playwright, with strong skills in at least one programming language such as Java.
  • Experience driving measurable improvements in test efficiency and automation coverage.
  • Familiarity with data-driven quality metrics and stakeholder reporting.

How to prepare for a job interview at Grundfos GmbH

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Grundfos GmbH uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
