PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
To lead the region in providing a strategic plan to ensure the company grows in line with the group’s ambition along with the annual management of the Profit & Loss responsibility for the region. The role will be responsible for sales revenue, volumes, and profit targets all with a strong focus on people development. Driving the business and the team to be the No1 solution provider, creating sustainable growth whilst maintaining and developing effective relationships with all suppliers and customers.
Role Responsibilities
The duties are many and varied, but the list below is considered to be the basic requirement:
- Responsible for setting Regional Budgets and the management accounts liaising with FD and Finance team on any issues.
- Chairing the Regional Sales meetings.
- Full responsibility for the development, management and delivery of the Supplier, Haulier and Customer strategy for the region.
- Building, delivering, and maintaining effective relationships with Suppliers, Hauliers and Customers through regular visits, conversations, and entertainment.
- Lead and develop the Traders within your team to consistently achieve and exceed sales targets by driving the sales process and supporting the sales team using KPIs to have consistent performance management in line with the company’s structure.
- Identifying new opportunities within the region and liaising with the National Commercial Director on how best to develop and pursue.
- Managing the regional teams selling techniques and understanding of systems and processes to ensure comprehensive understanding and calculation of risk.
- Training the regional team to ensure effective and compliant selling processes and techniques are applied at all times.
- Responsible for all regional Transport – understanding and analysing the potential risk and identifying process opportunities and risks.
- Managing credit limits through liaison with Credit Control and Head of Risk along with the ultimate responsibility for the sign off all credit notes/UHCs.
- Setting KPI’s and managing regional Sales Administration through liaising with Central & Regional Administration teams.
- Responsible for the Internal & External Training & Development plans for the regional team along with Leading the Recruitment process.
- Oversee a resource plan to recruit, train and continuously develop adequate personnel for the business.
- Contribute to continuous business process improvement through the adoption of best practice.
- Work closely within the Fixed assets and major projects team along with the National Commercial Director, operational and commercial team to exploit all commercial opportunities.
- Responsibility for compliance and discharging legal duties with regards to HR and Health & Safety to promote a safe, equitable and legally compliant workplace.
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB:
- Must have a full UK Driving License (Essential).
- Must be happy working out of our various offices in the South including: Houghton Regis, Tilbury, Bury St Edmunds and Shoreham.
- 3 years within a management role with a responsibility for a P&L is preferable, however if you are still looking to move up in your career we place greater value on attitude, character, and leadership potential.
- A proven ability to identify and execute key success factors that drive business growth, profitability, cost efficiency, and high levels of employee and customer satisfaction.
- Strong leadership skills, with a focus on fostering customer satisfaction and building loyalty both internally and externally.
