Our client, a well-established international freight forwarding business, is seeking an experienced Seafreight Import or Export Operator to join their growing operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for a freight professional with a minimum of 2 years' experience in Seafreight Imports or Exports who is looking to take ownership of shipments from start to finish within a fast-paced and customer-focused environment.
The Role
Operating within a cradle-to-grave structure, you will be responsible for managing the complete shipment lifecycle, ensuring a seamless service for customers while maintaining operational efficiency and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Seafreight Import or Export shipments from booking through to final delivery.
- Coordinate all aspects of the shipping process, including documentation, customs requirements, carrier bookings, and customer communication.
- Liaise with shipping lines, overseas agents, hauliers, warehouses, and customers to ensure smooth movement of cargo.
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively resolve any operational issues or delays.
- Prepare and process all relevant freight documentation accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant shipping, customs, and company procedures.
- Take ownership of individual job files, including responsibility for revenue generation and profitability (P&L).
- Maintain strong customer relationships through excellent communication and service delivery.
- Support the wider operations team as required.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years' experience within Seafreight Imports or Seafreight Exports.
- Previous experience managing shipments from start to finish (cradle-to-grave).
- Strong understanding of international freight forwarding processes and documentation.
- Commercial awareness with experience managing job profitability and revenue.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced freight forwarding environment.
