Export Customs Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Foster a strong and collaborative working relationship with the Operational team while maintaining clear communication with customers regarding all customs-related matters.
• Conduct thorough documentation checks to ensure compliance with both new and existing government regulations.
• Track incoming shipments and prepare the necessary documentation for entry submission.
• Process export declarations using ASM Sequoia.
• Oversee declarations subject to HMRC checks, port health inspections, examinations, and documentation reviews, coordinating with relevant government authorities to facilitate timely release.
• Handle post-entry amendments when required and maintain an accurate team log for tracking amendments.

Export Customs Requirements

• Recent experience of working in a customs brokerage environment, inclusive of entry submission to CDS via ASM or similar customs software provider.
• Knowledge of the HMRC Tariff for a diverse range of product types.
• Understanding of various customs procedures.
• Ability to adapt to arrivals encompassing various transport modes.
• Experience of using port community systems CNS & Destin8.
• Strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to work with line manager on HMRC ad hoc requirements, procedures, audits etc.
• Intermediate computer literacy and knowledge of software, such as Word, Excel.
