This is a full-time, on-site role for a Financial Controller based in Taunton, Somerset. The Financial Controller will oversee the preparation of financial statements, manage accounting operations, and ensure compliance with financial reporting standards. Responsibilities include budget management, financial forecasting, analysing operational performance, supervising accounting staff, and supporting strategic decision-making. The role plays a key part in maintaining financial transparency and implementing financial control procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clear analysis and insight into the overall financial health and performance of the business.
- Support leadership in developing short-, medium-, and long-term financial strategy.
- Prepare and manage departmental P&Ls, helping department heads understand performance and financial accountability.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, including coordination with departments and monitoring performance against budget.
- Develop and maintain cashflow forecasting models to support financial planning and liquidity management.
- Monitor and improve working capital performance, including receivables, payables, and operational cash efficiency.
- Manage foreign exchange (FX) transfers and exposure, ensuring efficient international transactions and awareness of currency risk.
- Provide financial modelling and project costings to support investment decisions, new initiatives, and operational projects.
- Deliver regular financial reporting and actionable insights to senior management.
- Strong financial analysis and commercial insight.
- Experience managing budgets, forecasting, and cashflow planning.
- Ability to translate financial data into clear, practical insights for non-finance stakeholders.
- Experience with departmental P&L ownership and business partnering.
- Understanding of working capital management and FX considerations.
- Strong Excel/financial modelling skills and familiarity with accounting or ERP systems.
- Professional qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) preferred.
- Commercially minded and strategic thinker.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Proactive, organised, and comfortable working across multiple projects.
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
