Skills required include landscaping, gardening, groundworks, general building, basic carpentry and plumbing, maintenance and repairs.

Based on a 40‑hour week, with the option to work 24 to 32 hours per week part‑time. Mainly based in the Newton Abbot / South Devon region, with occasional work in Exeter, Plymouth and Yeovil. Full‑time permanent position for an experienced, skilled candidate.

What does the role generally require and include:

  • Working independently or within a small team to carry out a wide range of landscaping, gardening and outdoor maintenance projects across multiple nursery and garden centre sites.
  • Taking responsibility for site maintenance, repairs and general upkeep of buildings, structures and grounds.
  • Liaising with our head office operations team to organise tools, materials, equipment and machinery, ensuring each project is planned effectively.
  • Learning new skills from our third‑party partners or from our experienced in‑house landscaping and expansion team.

Specific Skills:

  • Experienced landscaper / gardener / maintenance person – ideally with 10 years of varied hands‑on experience.
  • Landscaping and groundworks.
  • General building and repairs.
  • Basic plumbing.
  • Painting and decorating.
  • General maintenance and problem‑solving.
  • Driving licence (3 points or less).
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Highly organised and reliable.
  • Good levels of spoken and written English.
  • Ability to work within a team.
  • Strong time‑management and prioritisation skills.

Responsible For:

  • Garden, site and tree clearance.
  • Landscaping projects and outdoor maintenance.
  • Building and property repairs and upkeep.
  • Horticultural nursery maintenance.
  • Responding to urgent operational issues to ensure business continuity.
  • Assisting with organising and purchasing materials and equipment for each project.

Additional Requirements:

  • 40‑hour week, generally Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend support as required.
  • £15.00 to £17.00 per hour, with flexibility to work 24 to 40 hours per week.
  • Holiday entitlement is pro‑rata based on hours worked (approx. 28 days).
  • Full training and support provided by our experienced head office and expansion teams.
