Plants Galore has a number of busy retail centres along with a large horticultural nursery in the South West of England. We are actively seeking a strong individual to join our experienced and talented Head Office team. We have an extremely versatile head office team who are cross trained in multiple departments, due to this we are flexible on our vacancies. We have a need to support one of our office managers in the Finance, HR and health and safety departments. The area of interest can be in any sector but we are keen to cross train the successful candidate in multiple business aspects to allow holiday cover and personal development.
The role can include the following duties:
- Health and Safety department administration
- Reviewing risk assessments
- Reviewing site signage
- Updating employee training sign offs and allocations
- Compliance checks and organisation
- Printing and distributing invoices for approvals
- Assisting with the processing of takings from stores
- Filing
- Data entry to Sage 50 Accounts
- Recruitment administration including the organisation of interviews
- Document processing of new starters
- Uniform distribution
- Scanning and Filing
- Training reviews and organisation
Potential in all departments to take on more responsibility depending on ability. Company health and safety management overseeing the annual requirements, site reviews, creating new risk assessments and safe systems of work, reviewing and updating of policies, etc. The Accounts department control all supplier payments, management accounts, VAT returns, Year End accounts, etc. The HR department also deal with contracts, notice periods, training courses, disciplinaries, terminations etc. There is more specialised work available for the right candidates with experience or ability to learn. This is a varied role that will allow you to gain experience in many departments and would suit an individual who is keen to progress in an administration role.
Experience isn’t required but strong computer skills are essential for this role. Applicants also need attention to detail and excellent time management skills to ensure that all deadlines are met and that their days are organised. This role is designed to support the business and office managers while providing sickness and holiday cover where appropriate. With the company planning to continue expansion further, this role has plenty of opportunity for growth.
Specific Skills required for this role are:
- Highly organised
- High level of attention to detail
- Very Good I.T. skills / computer experience with very good knowledge of excel spreadsheets and word documents
- Good levels of English – both spoken and written
- Ability to work within a team
- Ability to time manage and prioritise
Details of this role:
The role would require applicants to work Monday to Friday. Shop floor work over peak times would be very much appreciated but not essential to the role. We can offer £15 to £17 per hour with flexibility to work 35 hours to 40 hours per week – exact working hours to be agreed. This equates to £31,000 to £35,000 per year. Holiday is pro rata based on hours worked – approx. 28 days. The role will be supported by full on-site training by our experienced head office team. This is an immediate start position that would suit someone who can join our successful team within a short period and take advantage of full training in all aspects of the role. We carry out regular performance reviews and can offer very competitive pay rates in line with your progression. We run a successful profit share for team members who are fully committed to the company, this is not offered to every member of staff but is instead an incentive to those employees who are making a substantial difference to the company.
