Our garden centre company continues to expand rapidly and as a result we are recruiting a Garden Plant Merchandiser to join our retail operations team. We have expanded our business in recent years with many more plans in the future to keep our business thriving. This role will work alongside our Garden Plant manager to design and manage the Garden Plant sector of our Devon stores.
We are looking for reliable, enthusiastic, and proactive individuals to work alongside our Retail Operations Team to help manage our projects. The starting rate is between £14.50-£17.00 per hour, equivalent to £30,000-£35,000 per year. Holiday is pro rata based on days worked – approx. 28 days per year. The candidate would need to be a driver as regular travel between sites is essential. Regular weekends and bank holidays would be required to suit the business needs.
Experience in horticulture, retail or hospitality management is desirable but everything else can be taught including product knowledge. The duties of the role include:
- Creating beautiful and shoppable plant displays
- Providing a strong level of customer service and helping your team develop their skills
- Supervising the running of the garden centres
- The ability to identify and resolve problems in a proactive manner
- Enforcing our policies and following our procedures, including appropriately dealing with customer complaints
- Following and creating job lists and leading a team to complete tasks listed to a high standard
- Working on a flexible rota basis to include regular weekend and bank holiday work as required by the store
