Job summary
Grove medical centre is looking for a receptionist/administrator to join their busy practice team.
The role will be full-time working between the hours of 8am - 6:45pm.
The hours will be based on our rota needs.
Flexibility is essential as you will be required to work different hours to cover the rota.
We welcome applications from organised, adaptable and friendly individuals who are keen to help us provide high levels of customer service.
We are particularly interested in applicants with experience of working in NHS General Practice and familiarity with EMIS Web.
Main duties of the job
- To assist and support the patient in an efficient and courteous manner in accessing the services of the practice.
- To provide reception service that meets the need of the patient.
- Front line reception duties, dealing with patients face to face.
- General enquiries and explaining practice procedures.
- Managing online consultation forms.
- Dealing with telephone calls from patients, repeat prescriptions and any other queries.
- Booking interpreters, transport, etc.
- Maintaining the appointments system, to arrange appointments as per practice procedure.
- Dealing with home visit requests.
- Maintaining the system for issue of prescription, to organise prescriptions as per practice procedure.
- To assist and support the clinical staff in the efficient running of the clinics and surgeries.
- To provide clerical support within the Practice.
- Maintain patient records and data sets, to ensure patient data and records are kept up to date (manually and on the computer).
- To enter patient data onto the practice computer system (computerised and manual).
- To liaise with hospitals and other agencies.
- To adhere to the code of confidentiality at all times.
- To adhere to practice protocols and procedures.
- Liaising with clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Dealing with orders, supplies, and deliveries.
- To undertake training as specified by the Practice Manager.
Qualifications Essential criteria
GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths.
Experience Essential criteria
You will have excellent communication skills with a clear and polite telephone manner.
You will work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients at all times.
You will have experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations.
You will be confident to work as part of a team and be able to think on your feet independently.
Strong IT and administration skills.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in an NHS General Practice.
- Experience and proven ability to learn and use new IT systems.
