Are you passionate about making pets a priority? So are we! We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a passion for animals to join us as a Veterinary Care Assistant at The Grove Vets, Fakenham. We are looking for someone who can join us on a part‑time basis, working 38 hours across 4 or 5 days a week, with a share in the 1 in 4 weekend rota. Our ideal candidate would have some animal care experience and be someone who is interested in pursuing a career in veterinary nursing.

About the role: The Veterinary Care Assistant role is one of the foundations of an outstanding veterinary practice, and as a VCA you will be involved in supporting our team of qualified RVNs and Vets to provide outstanding care to our patients. The Grove Vets is a well‑established hospital‑level practice and orthopaedic referral centre, offering an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Care Assistant to develop their career in a busy, high‑standards clinical environment. Working alongside an experienced and supportive team, you'll have the opportunity to work on a varied caseload where no two days are ever the same. Development and career aspirations are genuinely supported, with many colleagues having progressed into SVN and RVN roles.

Some of the duties will include:

  • Nursing care to patients
  • Assisting Vets and Nurses in restraining animals for treatment
  • Cleaning, walking, and feeding of patients
  • General cleaning and maintenance duties
  • Being trained up to run the ambulance
  • Restocking equipment & supplies
  • Covering the receptionist desk, including answering queries, booking appointments and taking payments

What we're looking for in our Veterinary Patient Care Assistant:

  • An excellent communicator with strong empathy
  • Excellent customer service skills and experience in dealing with members of the public
  • Resilient with the ability to cope with potentially distressing and emotional situations
  • A positive attitude and excellent teamwork skills
  • Experience in looking after animals in a veterinary environment would be desirable
