Key Responsibilities
- Provide English language support to pupils for whom English is an Additional Language, both in class and through targeted small group or one-to-one interventions.
- Support newly arrived pupils and their families, helping them to settle into school and providing appropriate pastoral support.
- Participate in the admissions process for new EAL pupils, including carrying out initial language assessments and sharing information with staff.
- Work closely with teachers to plan lessons and develop resources that meet the needs of EAL learners.
- Deliver targeted language support to develop pupils\' speaking, listening, reading and writing skills across the curriculum.
- Monitor, assess and record pupils\' progress using the school\'s EAL assessment framework.
- Build positive relationships with parents and carers, maintaining effective communication regarding pupils\' progress and wellbeing.
- Support colleagues in developing their understanding of the linguistic, cultural and religious backgrounds of EAL pupils.
- Promote positive behaviour, and encourage pupils to engage confidently in all aspects of school life.
- Work collaboratively with staff to ensure every pupil has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
