Our Business Development teams focus on building partnerships with new Groupon merchants. We work to understand what makes small businesses tick and craft marketing campaigns to help them reach their audiences and grow their revenue.
As a Business Developer, you’ll focus on growing local businesses through the Groupon platform. From Day 1, you’ll receive hands-on professional sales training and learn core skills for long-term success, including customer relationship building, Groupon’s sales process, strategy, and sales psychology. You’ll apply these skills to make connections, grow partnerships, and scale businesses of all sizes.
Job Responsibilities- Seek out new business opportunities by cold calling to engage, consult, and close deals
- Learn about each merchant’s business: products/services, consumer demographics, ratings, competitive advantages, and profit drivers
- Use deal structure and strategy knowledge to reach Groupon’s and merchants’ goals
- Take ownership of contract negotiation — margins, discounts, and more
- Consistently hit or exceed your sales targets
- Collaborate with Merchant Development teams post-close to ensure smooth handoff
- Help drive market growth by improving both merchant quality and revenue
- Proven success in 360 sales roles or territory/product sales
- Inside sales experience (phone/email/social selling)
- Strong transactional selling knowledge
- Relationship management experience with small accounts
- Track record of meeting quotas, negotiating, and problem-solving
- Resilient and motivated, with strong listening and persuasion skills
- CRM experience (Salesforce is a plus)
