We are seeking a Senior Technical Lead to support the delivery of a portfolio of new nuclear projects within the UK. The role will provide strategic technical leadership, programme assurance, and intelligent customer capability across multiple nuclear technologies, including Small Modular Reactors and future new‑build projects. The successful candidate will operate at executive level, influencing government stakeholders, regulators, and international technology vendors, while building and leading high‑performing technical teams in a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the technical delivery of portfolios of nuclear workstreams, ensuring alignment to strategic business objectives.
- Provide expert technical advice and assessments to senior executives and government stakeholders.
- Act as an Intelligent Customer for the specification, procurement, and assurance of nuclear technologies and professional services.
- Support enabling activities that improve delivery capability across the wider nuclear landscape.
- Provide targeted delivery support and project assurance for major nuclear programmes.
- Develop and implement resourcing strategies for technical workstreams, including team growth and capability development.
- Manage contracts with external service providers supporting technical delivery.
- Lead and support assurance, governance, and independent review activities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government bodies, regulators, industry partners, and international vendors.
- Promote continuous improvement through adoption of new tools, processes, and delivery practices.
- Represent the organisation at public and industry engagements.
- Where authorised, act as a deputy for senior technical leadership with delegated authority.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strategic leadership in highly regulated, safety‑critical environments.
- Strong technical credibility across nuclear technologies and complex engineering systems.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills at executive and government level.
- Proven capability in programme delivery, assurance, and governance.
- Commercial awareness, including contract and supplier management.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to non‑technical audiences.

- Experience defining and implementing effective delivery frameworks and operating models.
Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Science, or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status preferred but not essential.
- Significant experience within the nuclear sector or an equivalent high‑hazard industry.
- Proven track record of delivering complex, technically challenging programmes.
- Demonstrable experience leading and developing senior technical teams.
