The Opportunity

The Tooling Support Engineer will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of manufacturing assembly tooling and fixtures. This role acts as the technical liaison between production, design, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure tooling solutions meet performance, quality, cost, and delivery objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tooling Development: Design, develop, and prepare engineering solutions for manufacturing assembly tooling and fixtures.
  • Technical Support: Serve as the main point of contact for tooling-related issues, supporting production teams and resolving manufacturing problems or defects with existing tooling.
  • Trials and Testing: Provide engineering support during functional and environmental trials of new or modified tooling and fixtures.
  • Supplier Liaison: Collaborate with suppliers and purchasing teams to resolve technical queries, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with technical requirements.
  • Planning & Reporting: Plan and manage day‑to‑day activities, reporting progress to meet project milestones and delivery schedules.
  • Documentation: Gather data and create detailed tooling specifications and requirement documents to support project and production needs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Challenge non‑essential requirements to reduce unit production cost (UPC) and simplify tooling design and manufacture.

Experience And Skills

  • Proven experience in tooling design, manufacturing support, or mechanical engineering within an assembly or production environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and production methods.
  • Proficient in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience working with suppliers and managing technical documentation.
