We are seeking an experienced RTE Software Engineer (Linux) to support a critical programme within the naval domain. You will focus on developing, deploying, and optimising software on Linux-based platforms, working within distributed and containerised environments. This role offers exposure to complex systems and close collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams in a structured, high‑integrity environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and debug software on Linux systems (RHEL environments)
- Perform system‑level troubleshooting and performance optimisation
- Deliver solutions within distributed and containerised architectures
- Develop automation scripts (Bash, Shell, Python)
- Work with container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, Podman)
- Support CI/CD pipelines and software build processes
- Manage configuration, version control, and deployment processes
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure aligned delivery
- Support reporting, risk management, and project governance
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong Linux expertise (infrastructure, OS, debugging)
- Scripting experience (Bash, Shell, Python)
- Experience with containerisation (Kubernetes, Docker, Podman)
- Knowledge of virtualisation (VMWare, Proxmox)
- Understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, DHCP)
- Development experience in Java and/or C++
- Experience with distributed systems or system‑level software
- Familiarity with CI/CD, automation, and DevOps practices
- Experience with tools such as JIRA, Jenkins, Git
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- ~5+ years’ relevant experience
