THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a Software Engineer to develop secure, high-reliability digital solutions that support aerospace and defence platforms. You will design and deliver cloud, data and AI capabilities that enhance situational awareness, mission planning, system performance and cybersecurity across complex safety‑critical environments. This role combines modern large‑scale software engineering practices with regulated engineering standards used in aerospace and defence programmes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and implement robust software for mission and information systems
  • Develop secure cloud and data processing pipelines for sensor and platform data
  • Build machine learning or analytics solutions for detection, prediction and automation
  • Support modelling, simulation and visualisation tools used in operational planning
  • Apply secure‑by‑design and safety‑critical engineering practices
  • Integrate software with hardware, networks and embedded systems
  • Produce technical documentation, test evidence and verification artefacts
  • Collaborate with systems, hardware, cybersecurity and safety engineering teams

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering or related discipline
  • Strong programming skills (e.g. Java, Python, C++, C# or Go)
  • Understanding of distributed systems or cloud architectures
  • Knowledge of software testing and version control (e.g. Git)
  • Awareness of cybersecurity principles
  • Ability to work within structured engineering processes and regulated environments

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Experience with AI / data analytics or large datasets
  • Knowledge of real‑time, embedded or high‑integrity software
  • Familiarity with verification, validation or simulation tools
  • Understanding of safety‑critical standards (e.g. DO-178, ISO 26262, or similar)
  • Interest in aerospace, defence, communications or security systems
