We are seeking a JIGS & TOOLING DESIGN ENGINEER to support a major aerospace programme, delivering high-quality tooling solutions to enable efficient and safe manufacturing and assembly operations. The role will involve the design, development, and validation of jigs, fixtures, and tooling used across complex aerospace systems, ensuring alignment with programme requirements, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Design and develop jigs, fixtures, and tooling solutions for aerospace manufacturing and assembly
- Produce detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings to required standards
- Support tooling through the full lifecycle: concept, design, manufacture, and validation
- Collaborate with manufacturing, production, and engineering teams to ensure practical and efficient designs
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety, quality, and regulatory standards
- Conduct design reviews and implement feedback from stakeholders
- Support continuous improvement activities across tooling and manufacturing processes
- Consider ergonomics, safety, and usability in all tooling designs
- Degree qualified (minimum 2:1) in Engineering (Aerospace, Manufacturing, Automotive, Robotics, Marine or similar)
- Experience using CAD software (e.g. CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD), preferably CATIA
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing processes
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
- Good problem-solving skills with a practical engineering mindset
- Experience within aerospace or other highly regulated industries
- Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems
- Project management knowledge or qualifications
- Programming or automation experience (e.g. VBA, Python, C++)
- Understanding of Health & Safety and ergonomic standards (e.g. PUWER)
- Knowledge of composite and metallic structures
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams
- Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proactive and solution-oriented approach
