We are working with a specialist consultancy who is seeking an experienced senior leader to join their team. This is a dual-focus role combining programme delivery leadership with business development, offering an exciting opportunity to make an immediate impact on critical NHS infrastructure programmes.
You will take ownership of a critical fire safety programme for a major NHS client, ensuring seamless delivery through a structured handover. Alongside this, you will drive growth by identifying and securing new business opportunities, building on a strong reputation in the healthcare infrastructure sector.
This role is offered as a 12-month fixed-term consultancy contract, outside IR35, with potential for extension or permanent conversion based on performance.
Key Responsibilities- Programme Leadership (approx. 60%)
- Take full ownership of the Fire Programme as the outgoing lead transitions over a 6-week handover period
- Manage and deliver infrastructure projects in line with NHS guidance and regulatory requirements
- Act as the senior client interface, providing assurance to NHS stakeholders and maintaining strong relationships
- Oversee project budgets, timelines, and reporting, ensuring compliance with governance frameworks
- Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and supply chain partners to ensure successful delivery
- Identify and mitigate programme risks, escalating where necessary
- Ensure all work meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance
- Business Development (approx. 40%)
- Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities within the NHS and wider healthcare infrastructure sector
- Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers across client organisations
- Lead the development of proposals, bids, and presentations to secure new contracts
- Represent the organisation at industry events and networking opportunities
- Collaborate with the MD and wider team to shape the company's growth strategy
- Contribute to thought leadership and market intelligence to strengthen competitive position
- Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Significant experience in infrastructure project delivery, ideally within NHS or healthcare environments
- Proven track record of managing regulated programmes (fire safety, M&E, or similar)
- Strong understanding of NHS guidance, building regulations, and compliance frameworks
- Experience acting as a senior client-facing lead, managing complex stakeholder relationships
- Demonstrable success in business development, including winning new work and building client relationships
- Ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and deliver to time and quality standards
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work autonomously and take ownership

- Professional qualification (e.g., APM, CIOB, RICS, or equivalent)
- Knowledge of NEC contracts
- Existing network within NHS or healthcare infrastructure sector
- Track record of leading multi-million pound programmes with significant complexity
- Experience at board-level engagement with NHS Trust executives
- Established reputation and network within the healthcare infrastructure market
