Temporary Quantity Surveyor

Location: Site-based / Hybrid - Birkenhead (Liverpool)

Contract: Temporary / Contract 2 days a week

Rate: Competitive (DOE)

Duration: Project-based (6-12 months)

The Role

We are recruiting a Temporary Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of water treatment works construction projects. Working on the contractor side, you will play a key role in cost control, valuations, and subcontract management across live infrastructure schemes. Projects may include new build, refurbishment, and upgrade works within a regulated water environment, covering civil, mechanical, electrical, and process elements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage project costs, budgets, and forecasts
  • Prepare interim valuations and cost/value reports
  • Measure works and value variations and change events
  • Assess and process subcontractor applications for payment
  • Support procurement and management of subcontract accounts
  • Assist with final accounts and commercial close-out
  • Work closely with site teams, engineers, and project managers
  • Maintain accurate commercial records and reporting

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction
  • Contractor-side experience on utilities, water, or infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of commercial and cost control processes
  • Ability to work on live construction sites
  • Excellent numerical and communication skills

Desirable:

  • Experience on water or wastewater treatment works
  • Familiarity with NEC forms of contract
  • Background in civils, MEICA, or process plant construction
  • Relevant qualification (HNC/HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar)
