Temporary Quantity Surveyor
Location: Site-based / Hybrid - Birkenhead (Liverpool)
Contract: Temporary / Contract 2 days a week
Rate: Competitive (DOE)
Duration: Project-based (6-12 months)
The Role
We are recruiting a Temporary Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of water treatment works construction projects. Working on the contractor side, you will play a key role in cost control, valuations, and subcontract management across live infrastructure schemes. Projects may include new build, refurbishment, and upgrade works within a regulated water environment, covering civil, mechanical, electrical, and process elements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage project costs, budgets, and forecasts
- Prepare interim valuations and cost/value reports
- Measure works and value variations and change events
- Assess and process subcontractor applications for payment
- Support procurement and management of subcontract accounts
- Assist with final accounts and commercial close-out
- Work closely with site teams, engineers, and project managers
- Maintain accurate commercial records and reporting
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction
- Contractor-side experience on utilities, water, or infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of commercial and cost control processes
- Ability to work on live construction sites
- Excellent numerical and communication skills
Desirable:
- Experience on water or wastewater treatment works
- Familiarity with NEC forms of contract
- Background in civils, MEICA, or process plant construction
- Relevant qualification (HNC/HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar)
